A San Francisco Artist

October 17th, 2008

“My work examines the interaction of body, spirit and nature. The essence of my emotion is revealed through the use of textures, shape, and multiple layers of oil paint. Often with one word in my mind, I try to find the rhythm and flow to convey the feeling.”

These are my mother’s words. This is her blog. She is a San Francisco artist. Her name is Paule, pronounced like North Pole but with “A, U” instead of “O”. She is a great artist and has been living in San Francisco for the past 9 years. I had offered to write her first blog entry and it so happens that tonight I’m finally getting to it. This morning, while at work, I received an invitation for her next show… and it made me realize that I should probably hurry with this post. I think it’s a great way to start this blog, an invitation is always the best way to begin a conversation.

I live in Montreal, Canada and so I will not be able to attend. This makes me very sad but I know there are always many more shows to come throughout the year and so I watch from far as her career moves along. If you live in San Francisco or close to the city don’t miss the opportunity to see her art and meet my rockin’ mom!

The show “Moments” is taking place at the Design Guild Gallery (427 Bryant Street, SF CA 94107) with a reception on Friday October 17th from 6 to 9pm.

Paule will be the one continuing this blog. I think that through her very honest writing you will be able to meet my mom and know what she is really about. I think this conversation will be about her work, about life as an artist…and for anyone living with an artist we know that will be more than enough content to feed a blog…hehehe I don’t know her exact plan for this blog, but I know she wants to begin a conversation. Honestly I hope that SF artists and more will learn to share their experiences, fears and successes on this blog and begin a never-ending conversation about everything ARTS. It would be awesome to follow and exciting to be the first to have participated.

The blog era is enabling people to communicate and share on a variety of subjects. The arts community can only benefit from another conversation. That being said, this is a big shout out to the San Francisco artists; share and create!

Oh…and let me know how the show was…I would love to hear people’s thoughts, especially since I can’t make it.

Thanks
